About Peter Nicholson
I ask what the technology actually changes.
I've spent years in manufacturing sales and now work hands-on with IT, data and AI. That mix makes me ask two questions: does this help the business, and can the people doing the work rely on it?
Where I'm coming from
Sales taught me to ask where the exceptions are.
In manufacturing sales, I learned how often the tidy process in a diagram differs from the work people actually do. I took that habit into systems and data work. Partial shipments, credit holds and shadow spreadsheets tell you more about an ERP project than a clean demo.
I'm still a nerd about the technical side. I build and test things myself, whether that's an AI connector for Acumatica or a semantic model for production-shop-floor data. I want to know what holds up against live systems and real data, then explain what I learned.
This site is my notebook and a way to meet other people doing the work. I'm especially keen to hear from ERP consultants and implementation partners, BI and data people, and those putting AI into everyday work. If something I've written connects with what you're working on, send me a note.

I co-host The ABCs of ERP & Beyond with Nirav Shah and Emily Browning. We talk about choosing and living with ERP, including the data and AI questions that come with it. I also welcome guest ideas and invitations to speak.
